Yesterday I went to the Khadi Utsav that was organized at The Boys High School Grounds, Malleshwaram.There were several kinds of things that I came across. Here’s my experience.

As I entered the vicinity, I saw lights decorated all over. It got bright and brighter as I entered inside.I took the entrance ticket which was five rupees.

I saw lots of stalls in and around. It was mostly clothes all over the place – Sarees, salwars, kurta’s for men and women, clothes for kids, etc. People from all over India were here to exhibit their goods.
There were lots of stores that sold Khadi silk in various colors and I went ahead and bought myself some nice Khadi silk material.

While I strolled around, I happened to see something different. Can you guess what this is? Don’t scroll down to see what it is. Try guessing it and am sure most of them can’t guess it.

Initially I thought it was a rope but then I thought the best was to ask the stall owner who was selling it. So I went and asked the stall owner what this was and he mentioned to me that it’s called ‘Bendable toys’ and they can be bent in any direction and shape. I found it a little unusual but then I did see a few of them picking it up.

There were a varieties of other things like sandals, bedspreads, lavancha products, (lavancha is a form of roots), pickles, Kundha (This is a kind of sweet that is famous in Belgaum. It does taste yummy), purses, footwear, jewellery, various arts and crafts like the ganesha’s.

Apart from these, I also happened to see the traditional folk songs and dance being performed on the stage which was really nice.

I also recieved a brochure on these. Here’s a snapshot. I was unable to take a complete picture. I’m sure you will atleast smile when you read them if not laugh.

There were lots of things for the kids too like the merry-go-round, etc. Stalls were many and to see most of the stalls having similar things is a little bit monotonous yet visiting it once to get some good khadi stuff especially is okay.

Well, to all those who would want to go and buy Khadi and the various products the exhibition is at Boys High School Malleshwaram 18th cross. The last date of this exhibition is till 10th Feb 08. Go ahead and have a good time.
