Deep rooted!!
Janet Yegneswaran and ‘TREESFORFREE.ORG’ efforts are maturing; we witnessed the second anniversary of treesforfree.org y’day at Bal bhavan, Cubbon park when it was inaugurated by a truly inspiring personality of ‘Salumarada thimakka of Magadi taluk.
A woman who for 45 years without any fuss or publicity selflessly planted and nurtured hundreds of trees and hugely contributed positively sustaining the green revolution… She planted banyan trees as her life’s mission along the Bangalore-Nelamangala highway, is certainly not a household name in the “happening” metropolis.
With this approach of not calling any political face but to keep the event truly simple and honest, and the felicitation of Salumarada Thimakka, treesforfree.org made an important social statement that the mission and the work is divine and important than credits and merits .. The program further provided opportunities to share the dais with both emerging and matured talents who presented their skills and talents via dance, songs, poems and speeches.
The movement of awareness and execution is gathering momentum as it uses simple but effective method of publicity by mouth and involves their work with citizens and communities.
This participation increased the awareness of our dependency on nature and specifically trees for survival. Check this earlier post by Ravi for more…
