The Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival
The Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival has been a vibrant week of many types of plays, platform shows, and exhibitions in the foyer.
Here are some vignettes from the days at Ranga Shankara….
The foyer has been beautifully decorated, and some beautiful figures welcome you in….
Here’s another outsized puppet figure:
There were several exhibits put up, and I loved these “Shakespeare” icons:
And here are a few scenes of plays, or after plays:
Here’s a scene from “The Suit” which was staged on 22nd October:
And here are the author of “Crab” (23 October), Ram Ganesh Kamatham, and the cast, interacting with the audience after the first show:
And a scene from Dramanon’s 6.45 platform show (23 October)
And a scene from the English translation of Chandrashekhar Kambar’s “Thukra’s Dream” (today, 26 October):
There are also the 10 pm and the 11 pm shows, for which one must come to Ranga Shankara at 9pm and wait in the queue, hoping to get one of the 25 or so tickets issued…and then, if successful, wait for another hour until the play starts. I found this a very user-unfriendly way to sell tickets, and have not gone for these shows.
But there are some musical performances and photo exhibtions coming up…so even if the tickets to the weekend plays are sold out, there’s a lot to occupy the theatre-goer at Ranga Shankara, do visit! Anju’s delicious food is another attraction….!
cool!! thanks..
Taking photos inside the theatre is not allowed right??!!
