Flying high, you and me
With a commanding stake of 46% in Air Deccan, now revamped as just ‘Deccan’ accompanied by a masterstroke of including the Kingfisher logo alongside, namma very own Dr. Vijay Mallya has commenced facile and other changes (being on the board, for one ) necessary to show who’s boss.
Here are a couple of snaps taken recently at Bangalore Airport and elsewhere on this newly-wed jodi.
Yup, Kingfisher is having a ball and here’s how they go about telling it.
All ground and flight crew in the new livery!
No opportunity is let go to promote the company or its brand.
During the previous flights, I noticed that the flight hostesses were taking back the earphones, earlier dispensed free. Cost cutting over, they are now back in the goody bag as a freebie. To whet one’s appetite is this menu card given before meals are served.
Included now among the choice of TV channels is this onboard camera giving one a bird’s eye view of the ground, far below.
After Air Deccan was taken over by Kingfisher, the ticket rates have gone up. Middle class people like me have no option but to look elsewhere (filthy train berths and AC Volvo buses) to have a quick journey to meet parents on weekends. It is really painful that a budget airline like Deccan is no longer affordable to the eternally discriminated class called the middle class.
Vishnu,
Thanks for your reading & comment.
Your predicament is understandable. However, this is the age of competition and I’m positive that with a little bit of planning, you can indeed get fares across airlines that are easy on your wallet.
Cheers,
Ravi
