Filmcamp this weekend!

Got this from Thejesh of Events Bangalore, one of the organisers of Filmcamp.

FilmCamp is a platform to encourage and promote independent film makers. Also to share, learn and appreciate the art of film making. This event is the first of its kind this season with the collaboration of PG Department of Communication, Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College – Center for Management Studies, Bangalore; where independent film makers get to showcase their works to a wider audience which includes film-makers, professionals and critics from the film industry.

FilmCamp will be known for its informal approach towards appreciating budding talents in cinema and also a forum to learn from the masters. Here is where the Art of Cinema is celebrated as an arrival of the best. It is a great medium for film makers from all across India to come together and network in an informal manner. A film maker by our definition means anyone involved in the process of film-making like direction, cinematography, editing, screenplay, story, acting, etc. We do not differentiate between Commercial and Parallel cinema because our first love is Cinema, whatever it be the style. Though the event is in Bangalore, we look for participation from all corners of India.

FilmCamp believes that film is a medium which allows film-makers to express themselves completely in the best possible way. We emphasize the importance of script writing, screenplay, narration and background music in a film and encourage participants to understand the nitty-gritty of it. We also encourage people to indulge in film-making to express themselves and their issues in a much better way. Also through Film appreciation, we are trying to show how cinema can be regarded as a medium of personal expression. We are trying to inculcate better appreciation and under standing of cinema in everybody. We are applauding the entire effort involved in the process of film-making and adding a new perspective to the thinking of the audience.

We plan to have sessions from:

Sanjay Jha who has directed the critically acclaimed “Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye” and has been an assistant director for “Mission Kashmir” and “Khamoshi — The Musical” (Mumbai)

MG Sathya who has written for the critically acclaimed “Swades” (Bangalore)

Sanjay Nambiar who has directed the critically acclaimed “Yanam” (Bangalore)

Vasant Mokashi, writer-director (Bangalore)
