Lalbagh flower show – some observations

The flower show is going on in full swing at Lalbagh. Fellow metrobloggers have already written about their visits to Lalbagh here and here .

Just wanted to write a bit from our experience there. We were there early yesterday morning to enjoy the show. The flowers are extremely pretty and we had a wonderful time walking amongst them. Kudos to the different teams that have put together the show for the city.

And like Shande says, for macro photography enthusiasts the show is heaven.

All the shutterbugs were busy trying to get their best shots. It was fun to be amongst so much of enthusiasm. Here are some macro shots from my camera.

The good thing was that the area in and around the glass house was maintained litter free. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the rest of the park. There was quite a bit of litter that was carelessly strewn around. Most of it plastic.

What was obvious was the lack of enough trash cans for the crowded ‘flower show’ days. Installing multiple temporary/mobile colorful trash cans in crowded places and putting up signs asking everybody to use them may have helped a little. With the kind of crowds coming in, having the same trash cans that Lalbagh has on other days of the year is not going to be sufficient. Also, the trash cans there are grey in color and blend in with the surroundings, which is great for regular days. But on days when huge crowds are expected, there need to be more eye-catching trash cans and enough signs.

What are your thoughts?

Your macros shots are very good Chitra! It’s nice to see the same event being covered with different perspectives.
