Have a heart!!

It’s all about being sensitive and responsible the way we treat birds and animals….. I was shocked to see this man carrying few chickens on a scooter near KR Puram station junction …. It was horrible!! are we so cruel?

haveaheart.JPG

He just ties them with their legs and hooked them hanging up side down, sucha shameful act and behavior….despite provisions of cages and carriers he just opted the easy way out and gets Scot-free despite many RTO’s and police constables deputed on the station area and around!!

It was precisely seeing something similar about 18 years back which made me give up eating meat. At least treat the poor creatures humanely before you slaughter them.

Check out some of the cruelty that is meted out to animals in factory farms on this site http://www.goveg.com.

they cut of beaks of small chicks so that they cannot peck each other.

I have tried to stop people when I see them going this (this sight is all too common, alas.) I once took the chickens in my car and dropped them off, and got laughed at for my pains…but I am sure that if I had given some money to the guy to transport the birds by auto, the money would have been pocketed, and the birds would see no change…

Indeed we treat our fellow-creatures with intense, insensitive cruelty.

When people eat it daily, why do you gripe about all this bullshit about hurting animals?!?!

What you felt when you saw these birds being tied to the 2-wheeler is exactly what I feel when I see birds and animals ending up as food (being a vegetarian). Can I ask people to “have a heart”? :)

There are many laws sucessfully enforced towards fair treatment in developed countries, we can learn to adapt from them. here in we still struggle to effective governance and enforcement.

Deepa, I agree, they do have been provided with money for carriers but seems hunger for profits make them go any extent.

Chitra, yes you can say “have a heart” which you don’t approve of.
I enjoy non-veg still i won’t approve the way these birds are treated and handled here. point is even if you eat fruits, will you eat fruits which are ripen chemically, kept unhyginically or even grown / modified genetically…

    Good post!!

Just tell anybody about cruelty and you will get lessons about how cabbage dies a horrible death etc…

Offcourse heard that they put that hen/rooster into boiling water to get the meat out easily – dont know the truth content of that – but that if true is horrible compared to this ride!

    @Mohan,

I have heard the same argument. That we kill even we eat fruits and vegetables. And that there is no proof that they don’t suffer.

My usual response is that it is not just about killing. It is about the needless suffering. I don’t know if cabbages suffer, but I do know that animals do. Show me a squawking cabbage or carrot and I will rethink my options.

Multiple things can be observed from the photograph.
    1. The manner in which the birds are being transported.
    2. Scooterist without a helmet
    3. Motorists not following any lanes
    4. People have managed to transform a two lane road into a four lane road!!!!

    Interesting photo!!!

With regard to the question as to whether we kill Fruits and Vegetables, let me try to place a point.

First of all WHY does a Plant bear Fruit / Vegetables?

Ofcourse, its not for its own use. It bears a fruit to be a attraction for others to spread the seed and hence contributing to the growth of its species. If a tree gives out no fruit and only a non-edible seed, will any animal ever touch it?

Its the same way as a flower gives out Honey to the Bee in return for spreading the Pollen. This is a natural one to one gift.

On the other hand, Chickens arent born to be killed / eaten. Use the Egg, since there isnt any visible life there, but the chicken in itself has feelings / thoughts etc.

    Cheers

    Prashanth

Franz Kafka, whilst looking at a beautiful Cow, remarked ; “Now I can look at you in peace, because I no longer eat you.”
@Prashanth & Srivathsa, I agree with you both wholeheartedly. :)
