Children’s Yakshagana Troupe in Bangalore
From Saturday, May 19th (well…today!), a children’s troupe of Yakshagana artistes are all set to entertain Bangaloreans at various parts of the city….
The Saligrama Makkala Mela is a troupe of young children who have been trained in Yakshagana, according to H.Sridhar Hande of the Mela. The late Karkada Srinivasa Udupa had started this initiative to preserve this folk art form.
The children are putting up 3 Prasangas, or episodes, at different venues.
The schedule is as follows:

Sunday 20th May,6.30pm, Havyak Bhavan, Malleswaram
Tuesday, 22 May, 7 pm, Ragigudda, Jayanagar 9th Block
Saturday,26th May, 7 pm, Canara Bank Colony, Nagarbhavi
“Drupada Garva Bhanga” :
Sunday 20th May, 10.30 am, Nayana Sabhangana, Kannada Bhavan, J C Road
“Veera Vrushasena” :
Monday, 21st May , 4 pm, ISKCON Auditorium Rajaji Nagar
Wednesday, 23rd May, 7pm, Anna Kuteeraa, Vidyapeetha
Friday, 25th May, 7 pm, Kannada Bhavan, J C Road
Saturday, 26th May, 3 pm Ravindra Kalakshetra, J C Road.
