Bull Temple
Bull Temple, One of the oldest and beautiful temple in Bangalore, This is almost 400+ years old temple built during the time of Kempe Gowda the founder of Bangalore.
As the name says Bull, the temple is dedicated to Bull/Nandhi/Basava the mount of Lord Shiva, The Bull/Basava measures 15 feet tall,20 feet long and also the name for the locality “Basavanagudi” has come from this temple [In kannada Basava=Bull,Gudi=Temple).

Behind the Bull inside the temple there is a small Shiva mandira,Usually(to my limited knowledge) Bull/Nandhi faces towards Shiva in all the temples but here it is otherway,Do someone have a explanation to this ?
Bull temple is also considered as “Protected Ancient Monument”.
Overall visiting a Bull temple is a great experience.
Pray to the bull and God will grant your wishes. You too will be hung like a bull. Then you can be literally “God’s gift to women”
JSD, You sounds like taliban.
JSD, Shadow, Bull Temple. This sounds like a Mortal Kombat conventions. Where’s Liu Kang and Scorpion?
Enjoyed the post very much. We actually chose Dharmasthala Manjunatha Kalyana Mantap for our daughter’s wedding because it is next to the Bull Temple, and the large trees and the rocks give a great beauty to the place. Your post took me back to memories of the wedding, thank you!
The Bull faces the Shiva temple which is located a hundred meters or so in front of it
