Another Gem of Bangalore
There are some beautiful buildings of Bangalore which, I hope, will never disappear…..
I would like to share with you the sight of one of the most beautiful police stations I have seen anywhere in the world.
Here it is, Basavanagudi Police Station:
The curve of the dome, the beauty of its proportions, the greenery of the majestic trees all around it, its elevation…not even the wonky board can take away from the loveliness of this scene, which is a peep into the past…this is what all of Bangalore must have looked like, a few decades ago!
Basavanagudi is still one of Bangalore’s most beautiful areas, and one where old Bangalore survives.
Really nice photo of the police station. There are some really awesome places in Basvangudi and Chamrajpet.
I hope you can capture the one in Fraser Town…that too is a nice looking “Police ‘Tation.”
Thanks for sharing.

Nice station. I have been meaning to write about another station that is also very pretty. One of these days.
Actually, I’m surprised how/why this station’s maintenence and renovation has not been taken over and sponsored by a corporate. It could certainly do with a makeover!
I Think the post is incomplete. The building in the pic is the old building. The New 1 which is sponsored by Infosys is in the back of this building. This old building is semi-functional may be used by Traffic Police.
This is the only building I have seen as I drive past, have never had the opportunity (or the wish!) to actually visit the Police Station!
Someone posted that I had used an old photograph. I want to clarify that I took this photograph on Sunday (29th Apr) morning!
The New PS is clearly visible from the Krishna Rao Park, which is attached to PS. Should hav paid a visit. The Bangalore Police are friendly!! Especially the Basvangudi Police. Really I mean it!!
Lot of the old police stations have been renovated with the help of the “hot” companies in Blore – namely those related to real estate and IT. In fact, the Yelahanka one has been renovated by the company that I work for. However, the sad part is that apart from a few (like the High Grounds) one, most have been converted to modern looking ones with glass and all that. Maybe the police are not too keen on living in heritage structures and would rather compete with the IT and mall structures.
Krishna Rao Park has been done up beautifully too now….barring the high impact concrete pavers that all parks in bangalore (including Lalbagh) seem to be spouting these days..worth a visit..
sadashivanagar police station is another one that has been ‘modernized’..
Beautiful! Sigh!!
How wI rarely pay ANY attention to my own neighbourhood. This is just down the road for me.
I am quite busy walking or driving down to pay any attention :-(
Thank you Deepa Avare.
Have u seen it from the inside?
