Marathahalli Bridge: So far so good
Since the inauguration of the bridge on Friday, traffic has been flowing smoothly both ways on Marathahalli railway over-bridge. There was no traffic jam in the peak hours both during morning and evening today. Traffic was flowing smoothly, and there was no waiting in any part of the stretch from Kundalahalli to Marathahalli. People commuting to and from Whitefield can now feel less miserable and can save around 20 minutes or more on their way to office/home.
It is a good thing that the new bridge was commissioned before all those giant apartments in Marathahalli got fully occupied. We still have to wait to see how the bridge scales up once people move in to these apartments. In the meanwhile, traffic on the old bridge has been stopped and construction of second phase has already begun.
It would be nice if someone can post some fotos of the new bridge. :)
The situation will become worse by this year end with the apartments close to the bridge getting ready. Close to around 5000 cars will hit the roads daily from these apartments. The Marathahalli area and Kundalahalli junction also needs some improvement in terms of proper traffic lights.
Also, this road (connecting Kundalahalli to Marathahalli) is considered as the only commutable way from Whitefield to Marathahalli outer ring road. To ensure the free traffic from Whitefield area to Marathahalli outer ring road, we need to have more connecting roads from Brookefields area to Outer ring road – or atleast make the current roads motorable.
Hopefully, this planning will start once we start facing the traffic issues – there is no proactive development happening.
