Hi Naren,
Which is the near by villages Karaga you have seen ?
Its CM Lokesh not Abimanyu who has lead the karaga this time in bangalore.
Silkboard, Karaga has been celebrated in places and villages were vahnikula kshatriyas AKA Thigularus are Prominent. The Popular places are Hosakote, Malur,Yalahanka(different Karaga celebrated on 7th), Anekal(On the same day of bangalore Karaga), Hosur and Thigulara Hosahalli(Both are in TN). The some villeges near bangalore which celebrate Karaga are Muthanallur near Sarjapur, Mayasandra Near attibele. Incedentally these villages are near to SILKBOARD :). Apart from these there will be Hasi Karage by different community. There is not much importence. But, it will be celebrated by Most of the Big Villages. Apart from karaga there will be village festival called as Jathre.
The Theru(chariot) will be the main attraction. And not to forget Pallakis the spectacular decoration, treat for eyes during nights. All Jathres starts from Rathasapthami and goes on till may. All festivals are celebrated during summer. Some villages in Bangalore celebrate village festival(Jathre). ITs Unfortunate these Info are not available in net. Hope This has Helped you.
