Do we really need to be told?
Shouldn’t we actually know?
Spotted this board at a staircase landing in Safina Plaza. I am guessing it is a few years/decades old. Over the last few years, I do notice a lot less people spitting in public places. But, when on the road, there are still a lot of people using the road for a spittoon. I once had the misfortune of waiting behind a man on a bike, at a red light. When he was spitting continuously, I started to count (!!), and from the time I started to count, he spat 26 times. Thankfully, I was in a car. Can you imagine if I were on a 2 wheeler or even in an auto?
So, I guess we still have to be told. It is a pity.
I would love to believe that we don’t need to be told that, unfortunately my experiences dictate that we do need to be told not to spit in public places.
Yes. Definitely lot of people do need these signs. But where is an alternative to spit that dust or polluted air that goes and sits on your throat? I feel we need to make it mandatory that every shop has to have a dust bin and/or spittoon infront. Make people realize that all the dust/trash needs to go in those and not on the streets. These need to be there in the Public transport vehicles…
Then Start Fining the people who mess the city. Within few years we will not need these sign boards.
Sajith, Anil, I had to edit the post slightly since your comments cause my post didn’t reflect what I meant. Sorry!
Chitra,
Yes, of course “we still have to be told.” This is not unfortunate but is necessary! As a people, we’ve been used to being ruled, you see..hence, we HAVE to be told. You don’t know how much that act of spitting in public places raises my ire! I’ve even written about it elsewhere.
Ravi
I totally understand your frustration about spitting. It is really sad tho’ that we must still be told.
