An atrocity beyond belief
There has been much heat and debate here over the treatment of stray dogs following their recent attacks on & killing of children. It would be interesting to know what everyone feels about this case – reported by CNN-IBN, no less – where lawyers in Hassan Court have shown their true colours.
Savitaramma was supposed to receive Rs 10,000 as compensation in an accident case. But when she went to her lawyer Jayaram, he allegedly asked her to have sex with him if she wanted the money. When she refused, Jayaram along with five other advocates allegedly gangraped her.
When her husband came to know of the incident, he confronted the lawyers in court and was beaten up.
The video that can be seen at this link, shows the beating. Apparently, these advocates have got political backing and even the State Human Rights Council feels it is up a wall. The National Human Rights Commission has been called in to ensure justice for Savitaramma and the advocate community in Bangalore city want stern action against the accused.
Lets forget animals for now, shall we. Just what punishment should be meted out to these lawyers for their bestial act is to be seen. Will the law uphold its course against its practioners? Will Ramegowda get speedy justice? Will Savithramma get her honour back? These are imponderable questions.
The cynic in me thinks there are no answers.
This when the international community is celebrating international womans day tomorrow!!
The ugly side of Kannada culture!
Shek,
Your irresponsible comment here is totally unbecoming of someone who works in a company that’s founded in Bangalore & by Kannadigas! What has this atrocity to do with Kannada culture and how much of it do you know anyway? Beasts in the guise of human beings stalk innocents the whole world. Forgotten Nithari? This atrocity goes beyond our ethnicity, culture, region, religion etc. One more comment like this and you’ll have to face the brickbats, in person, I assure you!
Ravi
i can only respond to this attrocity in kannada.
halkatt sooL##$@#$@#$&**(*(_((*(
Shame on the advocates. I can see why you would be a cynic, Ravi.
Shek, I don’t see why the entire Kannada culture must be blamed because of some politically-backed bad-asses? I am sure there are such instances elsewhere too!
Shek pls mind your language.
Why has my favourite blog page become some kind of ‘shit’ discussion board??? Think Anita or Sean Bonner or may be the owner of the post has to moderate the comments.Else perpetuators like Shek will have a field day @ the expense of MBs.
Why i read this blog page regularly???
Coz its here i feel the +ve vibrations about my beloved city Bangalore. People from different place have fallen in love with this city and they are trying to give something back to this city.Greta going guys. When the air of negativity is aorund i suggest people to go through the Mb so that they feel connected with this place. I clearly remember the blog on ‘Kadalekai Parshe’ which i recomded many people in my office to go through and they were amazed with the very concept of the fair. If not all some did agree that indeed Bangalore si not all about Hosur road traffic. It has much more to offer.
Great going guys. Keep up the good work
Regards
Karthik
Disgusting. To think that these lawyers will end up as Judges is scary. Imagine a Judge asking for something for a favorable verdict
