Auto Raja, Band Bajaa?

auto_raja.jpg

Occasionally, you would have come across a car – the small one(s), in particular – with the owner plastering a sticker on the rear window, proclaiming “When I grow up, I want to be Merc / Porsche..”

This autorickshaw driver seems to have no such growing up issues. His auto is a Ford. Period!

Should this pic come to the attention of a certain Mr. B who owns a company manufacturing these autos, he ought to be mortified. After all, he is the man who gave birth to the ‘Bombay Club’ – a forum that advocated ‘protectionism’ for / to the Indian Industry from multinationals. Today, every multinational worth calling itself as one is wooing the Indian consumer left, right and center, craving his attention & wanting his money. I wonder what Mr. B would feel when he sees his homegrown creation with a label from Dearborn, Michigan!

    FACT ABOUT TATA
……..Will take you for a ride

I bought a Tata Sky box on 6-1-07 after the assurance from the call centre that it would be installed on 7-1-07. It was not done and on 10-1-07 I was given a date as 11-1-07 for installation. On 12-1-07 I called up Tata Sky to know that they have shortage of installer and it would take another 2-3 days for installation. Can you imagine a company like TATA failing to honour their own commitments, to me it is noT surprising, IT IS AN INDIAN COMPANY.

I SPOKE TO THE HEAD, KARAN AND HIS SENIOR MEGHNA, THE ONLY REPLY IS “WE WILL TRY TO GET THE JOB DONE AT THE EARLIEST, AND YOU WILL GET A CALL SOON” No time frame is specified for installation, this is a typical Indian answer, that the reason, outside companies are more successful than Indian companies like TATA.

Thanks all for your visits & comments!

Mr. Khanna: I have a TATA SKY DTH service too and though I’ve not had installation hassles, the signals went on the blink twice AFTER the installation. HOwever, they did a good job of rectifying it. I’ve not had any problems since their recent price hike of 50%. Still, the digital quality is fantastic. So, in a nutshell, perhaps they have a genuine problem with your case. On the other hand, perhaps they are swamped with too many new connections and did not forecast such a demand. I’m sorry to hear your case. I wish you all the best! Cheers!
