Sign of the times
In the course of commuting within the city, I came across these signboards, each indicating the locality, BMP ward number and the respective corporators. I think they are pretty neat.
A little more finesse in the design would have made them boards more attractive I felt (like the last pic below) but perhaps all in good time?
Stylish, isn’t it?
On the subject matter of time, its time to tell you, dear readers, that this is my 100th post. Much more is to come and I hope that my interest in our city and a fond hope for its better future will continue to show itself in my posts.
On that note, I shall ‘sign’ out, in inimitable style – Cheers!
:)
Congrats on the 100th post!!!!
Hey, the last one is THE BEST….
Hey Ravi,
Great post.
And congrats on the century! Go on and make it a double century!
Congrats Ravi!
About this post – what a wasteful idea to print corporator’s name there as well. Got to repaint these so often. More important, these guys get publicity for free.
Corporators, what good is your name there, put a phone number or email address as well so that I can reach you if I need to.
Ravi: I think it is a good idea to put names in Kannada and the corporators name as well. In our country, these boards may look uncool, but they are functional atleast. There are so many places that do not have such boards.
Aha, so I was a little early in wishing you for the 99th!
Nice one…and whose money is it by the way? Why the hell should the corporator’s name be there? They will pull them down after the next elections?
Hey! Just in time to wish you a congrats on your 100th post. May you post more and more and more . And in your inimitable style. :)
This was a cute post too. Great pics. And thanks for wandering by the Chennai Metblogs. A comment from you always makes my day. [Yes, I’m now a part of the Metblogs scene. :)]
Congrats on ur 100th post & i will wish u on ur 200th too :-)
Hey all,
Thanks for your good wishes!
Cheers,
Ravi
Congrats on your 100th post. I am reading backwards. Hope to catch with all your posts thus far. :)
I have no idea why the yellow+black combination is such a fascintion with the corporation. Rhyming, eh? Anyway, it is such a waste having boards with variables. Foresight is far ehind.
Chitra, thanks!
Corporators must make themselves accessible apart from a sort of self promotion via these boards! In that sense, I agree with SB. At the same time, I think RC has a point as well…pure & simple, these boards are purely functional. My view is that being in the public eye, one has got to be accountable as well…ergo, put some contact details. I would actually.
PS: I’d definitely get myself a secretary too! :)
Hi,
Congrats on your 100th post.
The name of the Corporator reminds me of the Bus-stops that were build using MP’s Local Area Development Fund. Election time and I find them spending more public money blackening the boards. Infact, someboards havent got back their orginal Under Pass though havent seen any Bus stop there either).
Cheers
