An untold Kolar: Pages from a journal
Enjoying the view, near Narsapura
Kolar might not be on a regular tourist’s map but it is, as I discovered during the last few years at college, undeniably raw and beautiful. The weekend rides through rocky hill scapes and dusty villages and short treks leading absolutely nowhere are a few things that I terribly miss after I returned to the city! These are a few pictures from my journal (2002-03).

Amazing and gorgeous. I like these stark black and white photographs. What beauty in our own backyard! I have heard that the coastal part is all black sand. Can you post some pictures of that also some time.
The tones are magical Vivek. Great stuff as usual.
One input – I think you can really do a lot more to those images if you use GNDs.
My faves from the lot would the craters one and the rainbow one. Exceptionally brilliant!
Fabulous photos. Looks like paintings.
I do wish for a color version too
Cheers

Thanks everyone..
Arun: Yes, graduated neutral density filters would have made them look better but I didn’t have access to GNDs then.
SLN: Most of these pictures were shot on cheap BW film, Nova, which was available for Rs.35 much to my delight! But it has a very high contrast. I shall see if I have any coloured ones and post them if I do.
Vivek , i have not see these images earlier.. a different though .. but nice one.
Hope you did not miss a hike on Antharagange hills ( Shatashrunga Range).
Craters and Awaiting the rains are simply outstanding images…. Good work Vivek.
