Trivia: Weird, but true!

In the whole of India (some tell me “whole of world”) there is no flyover with a traffic intersection and a signal.

But, only in Bangalore, we have a traffic signal and criss-crossing traffic atop a flyover.

Where is it?

That is KH Road & Richmond road flyover !

However Initially it was not the same situation, this is due to the conversion of Richmond & Residency road ONE way.

Incidently, there are traffic lights on the exit ramps of freeways in US also-at least, that is what Wikipedia says

I think we are making too big a deal of it. During peak traffic hours, even freeway entries in US have signals.

Instead of designs of these flyovers, the flyovers themselves are problems, they don’t really help.

There is one in Hyderabad – Balanagar. Though it doesnt have a signal it is an intersection and there is a traffic policeman who controls the flow.

    Yep. Richmond it is!

I thought that this would be a little tricky.

Anyways is it not weird to have signals on flyovers when their very purpose was to avoid/bypass them?

Actually the Flyover in question was a Good Idea. Problem was that where it ended in Residency road was the place where the Bishop Cotton School lies. The parents of these well to do kids come to pick up their wards and double and sometimes triple cross their cars on the road which resulted in long traffic jams extending to the middle of the flyover (sometimes).

This resulted in there being some new flyovers which has resulted in the manual signal being put up on the flyover.
