Pay & Park

Pay & Park is likely to come back in Bangalore within few months, Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has announced that in the first phase it will introduce in 13 places including M.G.Road, CMH road, Commercial street etc…

The reason to reintroduce this system is to reduce the traffic issues in busy roads, avoid vehicle theft etc…
The proposed rates are Rs.3/Per Hour for two wheelers & Rs.4/Per Hour for four wheelers.
Personally I don’t like these Pay & Park systems, how much we should pay government indirectly??? We have already paid road tax when we purchased the vehicle & again now parking fee! Where the hell road tax is utilized???

Do let me know your opinions on Pay & Park in PUBLIC roads.

Even after paying fee for parking there is no guarantee that vehicle is not stolen or damaged. It will be said that – We are not resposible for your vehicle if stolen or damaged.

Fee is for parking only. It is injustice to pay 3 rupees for a two wheeler parking at a insecure place. It is not worth to pay more than 1 rupee for a two wheeler.

The vehicle theft story is new to me.

One reason cops kept insisting on Pay and Park was because, in the absence of an attendent, cars and bikes were parked haphazardly and disrupted traffic. Having to pay to park will translate to having an attendent who maintains orderly parking.

You would seen many people parking awfully after free parking was introduced, or just leaving car on the road with little care about the trouble they are causing everyone.

But the right solution for this is to impose hefty fines instead of Pay and park. But the hefty fine idea is much more difficult to introduce than pay and park.

Sometimes when I see people happily parking in busy roads like airport road with the hazard lights on, I wish their DL be taken away and they be made to pay up big time.

As a simple rule, Roads are not supposed for parking, Road is to ride the vehicle, And the parking garages ( which should be part of anny business that is put out on the roadside) is the place to park it.
Even in residential areas, people dont build enough parking space at times and start using public property for their private use, causing hindrance to others.

Dur to historical reasons, businesses came up without enough parking infrastructure, and hence it becomes important to regulate, if you dont pay of it you tend to misuse it…I remember trying to get my work done in a shop within 30 mins because it would cost me less…so it helps keeping people away from busy areas…

What happens to this money collected is a completly a different problem! ;-)

I hate this pay and park system. How much more do these corrupt BMP/contractors want?

Can the parking attendent be made accountable for vehical theft…yes including scratches when he lifts your vehical to squeeze???

what are you renting? space meant for walking and driving? isnt it illegal?
