Cops at work
Our traffic cops do more than just inhaling dust and smoke. In fact, of late, they have been doing a very good job on the Airport road. Here is a lorry caught red-handed jumping a red light – such a rare event, that I had to click it.
And BTW, we hear so much about increased budget for roads and flyovers. When was the last time you heard of “more budget for Bangalore Traffic Police and RTO”? I recall reading something about traffic police embracing computers to better track offenders, but that’s about it.
Even Dr Manmohan Singh thinks that our drivers can be disciplined merely by issuing lectures and appeals. Ho ho ho!
Good Pic !
Caught red-handed, yes, but what happens after that is anybody’s guess! :)
I can’t believe that the Government gave in to a bunch of thugs led by Vatal! This is a spineless, opportunistic set of “ninnies” who neither can speak or write Kannada properly, nor can run a state government.
Good photo. Sometimes the cops get killed when the driver doesn’t stop.
nparry – I am confused. Did your post end up here by mistake?
caught red-handed NOT for jumping a red light, They are diverting the lorry to ring road as Marathalli bridge is closed for heavy vehicles !!!!
I wish to remember a traffic police who gave his life to save a school kid which happened almost 7-8 yrs back near GPO. His name is Meese Thimmaiah who use to work near GPO signal n while rescuing kid from truck he was killed & later that circle is named after this person “Meese Thimmaiah” Circle.
Meese Thimmaiah! Must’ve been Bangalore most loved cop ever. Thank you, Raja for mentioning his name…
Very smart Raja. That’s what the cops would do next. But when I took this photo, the yelling at the time was for jumping the light – see that two ‘right’ signals are on, but this lorry is blocking my right turn onto ORR.
Kishor – I don’t really mind what happens next. As long as cops catch and ‘harass’ the offenders, it is okay. Once hassled, whether for bribe or a legit fine, you may not repeat your sin.
Meese Thimmaiah – remember that story, thanks for reminding us all Raja. These folks do a virtually thankless job. Wonder if we could appreciate that by organizing a “help traffic cops” day or something.
