Entertainers or Child Labors ?

Today’s TOI front page has covered an article on “Employing child at home? Central staff beware” but the worst thing is that we everyday we see the Child entertainers in Bangalore where they perform “Dombarata” on the corner of the road or on foot path near a busy signals or in a bus stands. These kids are the feeders of there family, usually each troops earn an average of Rs.150-200 every day & the families are happy about there Childs to help to lead the life.

In another side these kids loose there childhood, education, dreams etc… Is some Government or NGO are not bothered about this kids? When they are talking about kids inside the house why they have forgotten the kids on roads?

How we should identify this kind of Kids? Are they Entertainers or Child Labors???

A good point brought forward. There should be some rehabilitation offered to these nomadic “performer”s such that they can base themselves at some place and pursue a steady means of livelihood. If that can be done, then the upliftment of those children can be done.

Ok.. you are talking about the street kids. I agree with you and the comment above..

What about kids who are kept at home as domestic labor? Agreed that they probably have a “better life” than the street kids but isn’t this childhood lost as well?

Maybe our NGOs should spend more money rehabilitating these kids than testing cola.

    What is “Dombarata”?

This suggests a version of an old joke:

Onlooker: Hey kid, you’re being exploited! Why don’t you go to school?
Performer: What, and leave show business?

    RC,
You are right,Govt should seriously think on rehabilitation.

    Vijay,
No matter it is street or domestic kids all will loose the childhood, Many times our Govt fails to think especially abt street kids. I my view all the kids should be treated equally.

    Mark,
Dombarata is a word in kannada language for road side show or a small size circus on the roads.
