Sparrows are missing in my city
I am not sure how many of you have noticed this but this is very much sure that the SPARROWS are missing in Bangalore!
Yes, I have not noticed these sparrows in Bangalore from quite long time. There were a days that sparrows use to built there nest in the houses at Bangalore, Now forget houses we can’t even find it on trees or elsewhere.
It was quite nice memories during our childhood that we had a chance to grow along with these poor beautiful birds.
There was a myth in our houses that our parents always use to tell us that we should not touch this birds as if we touch then that touched bird will not be allowed by the rest of birds to stay in there community, I now feel may be this myth came into practice to avoid harming this birds.
We also use to feed this birds by throwing the grains for it & not to destroy its nest wherever it may be. Main cause for missing these birds may be to sound & environment pollution in city limits but I am not sure about the exact cause for it. I feel bad that present generation kids don’t have chance to watch this birds.
At last, I am missing my sparrows in my city, let me know if someone finds them.
Mumbai – more polluted, more loud, more dingy, more chaotic …than Bangalore – is still home to a countless sparrows. There has to be some other reason for their conspicuous absence.
While squirrel population is having a big upward climb…
Sparrows are very very allergic to Dust and Sound. Only place in Bangalore where some of them can still be found are in the bylanes of Chickpet and areas around it.
Another reason I can think of is that with most of the Old Buildings gone, Sparrows have no place to hide. Since they arent the best of fliers, I believe they require crevices where they can take rest.
