Music to my ears
While in Chennai recently and staying in vicinity of the Mylapore area, I was fascinated by the Marghazi music festivals in the various sabhas; even attending a few of them. To top it all, there is one heck of an informative website to help rasikas plan their attendance. And so, I was happy to read that Bangalore also has one scheduled by the Gayana Samaja.
The Thirty Eighth Music Conference of Bangalore Gayana Samaja is scheduled to be held from Sunday 13th August to Sunday 20th August, in bangalore, both days inclusive. The theme of the conference is “Karnatakada Vaggeya Vaibhava” (Splendour of Compositions of Karnataka Composers).
What is fascinating to know is that this Samaja is more than a 100 years old. I’m fascinated by some aspects of their history. You can read more here and here.
Eminent musicians have confirmed their concerts. Kadri Gopalnath, Bombay Jayashri Ramnath, Madurai T.N.Seshagopalan, Kumaresh and Jayanthi (Veena-Violin Samvada), R.K.Padmanabha, T.M.Krishna, T.V.Shankaranarayanan. I hope I will be able to attend the one by Kumaresh.
Should you or anyone known to you be interested, you can contact The Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Sri Krishnarajendra Road, Bangalore 560 004 at 26612244 for more info!
