OF RAVA IDLIS

Ravi posted a picture of Rava Idli today morning, which reminded of this snack’s history. Did you know that Rava Idli is a snack that was invented in our own Bangalore?

Yes, it was first prepared by none other than namma MTR, the good old “Tiffin Room” that we Bangaloreans love. As MTR mentions, rice was in short supply during World War II and they needed some alternative snacks to rice Idlis. So they tried working with wheat and came out with Rava Idli, which is now popular and available everywhere.

I also googled a bit and discovered MTR’s web page which has the same story.
