Volvos doing well
Just as Brick & Mortar is giving way to Glass and Chrome as Ravi noted, the face of city roads could be in for a transformation. The “cheery red” Volvo buses are a hit as per recent newspaper reports. A satisfaction survey by BMTC found 84% of Volvo users to be happy with the service.
Likewise, 461 said the seating arrangement is comfortable. As many as 309 found the ambience relaxing and 132 have rated it a “soothing” ride.
I am a bit skeptical on how well BMTC will maintain these, but still, I am eagerly awaiting 100 more Volve buses. Because, 249 of the 500 folks surveyed said they leave their private vehicle home, 131 of these, cars.
BMTC is also thinking of Laptop and Mobile phone charging points in each bus. Wonderful! By subscribing to wireless Internet (GPRS etc) services, you could actually do some work on your way to office.
I vote for them Volvos. I travelled only once and I would rate the satisfaction as high. I can only imagine how nice it is for many people not to be driving in this crazy traffic and taking these Volvos instead. Kudos to BMTC for pioneering this initiative. We should see other metros also adopting this initiative. Mysore, for instance, could do well to include these Volvos on tourist routes. It would be an amazing experience.
