Once bitten….

Not that I needed vindication on my recent post regarding the undue delay in the completion of the Airport Road flyover project.

But it was galling to see tax payers money go waste and how! $2 million. Rs 9 crores! Had this sort of money been wasted by an individual/entity in the private sector, they could have kissed their jobs goodbye. But this is a semi-government department, its people’s money, accountability is a non-issue….and really, who cares?!

That’s where the Comptroller & Auditor General comes in. Its not so easy to get past these folks! Even the defence ministry is not spared from their scrutiny.

Vijay Times reports that the Comptroller and Auditor General nailed the blame squarely on the BDA for the undue delay which set back the project by 3 years and cost a whopper of $2 million bucks!

If only the officials of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had been a little more careful, they could have saved Rs 9.11 crore of the tax payers money from being squandered

As a face-saving measure, the BDA has accepted several mistakes that it made in the execution of this project to the CAG.

What remains to be seen is whether any hard lessons have been learnt!

More mistakes like these and aggrieved citizens could file a PIL to re-christen its name from Bangalore Development Authority to the Blundering & Dilly-dallying Authority!

;)
