Strip-tease

“Bangalore’s hotels, fearing the enormous travel time to hit the proposed international airport in Devanahalli, are looking to provide helipads for their customers….. Leela Group chairman Capt. Krishnan Nair told TOI on Wednesday that the helipad would be so designed that 20-seater planes could land on it.”

Huh? Planes landing on a helipad? Is this possible? It would be an airstrip then, wouldn’t it? Is reference being made to VTOL technology? Only fighter aircraft have it, as far as I know, but 20 seater aircraft?

Aircraft carriers too don’t have planes landing on their helipads…only on their decks( mini airstrips of sorts!) and thanks to some very heavy duty catching wires.

Methinks someone is indulging in pure flights of fancy. Unless of course, I’m proved wrong in which case, I do not mind being dumped from a helicopter.

With parachutes on, of course…what did you think?

;)
