Offbeat Entertainment Ideas

I’m getting bored of the usual weekends Bangaloreans are offered:

Pub, Disco, Shopping, Movies, Week-end getaway to so-and-so place, etc.

Apart from capturing creative ideas of people, I wanted this post to show investors that there is a lot more investment ideas and potential in Bangalore city.

Why don’t we come-up with Karaoke Bars? This will change the usual pubbing routine. Be your own DJ and artist while sipping your drink!

We badly need an iMax Theatre. Every movie will be an experience in itself!

Folks like WALMART, COSTCO, etc. should open outlets soon. One day is not enough for a tireless and enjoyable shopping experience and after purchasing tons of goodies you’ll not get shocked by the price-tags.

Weekend Get-aways:
Bungee jumping, Sky diving, etc.

So, what is your idea to change the conventional style of entertainment in Bangalore?

Adventure Sports – these are already available in town.
Imax – I hear one is making its way to Bangalore.
Shopping – there is Metro. Big Bazaar is also a super bazaar. You can spend hours at either of these places. Not sure if Walmart and Costco would be as welcome.
Pubs – lesser said the better…

    Any other entertainment opps?
You have not looked at Theatre as an option. It is a wonderful medium of entertainment. Another option that you could list is Photography, well you could say it is more of a hobby!
How about cycling around the town? Something along the lines of Bangalore Walks…

To add to the above, Family Mart is another such big shopping center.

I would suggest people to explore the outskirts of bangalore like T.G.Halli, kanakapura road etc. Its good fun.

Recently I went to this Greenwood high school somewhere beyond Sarjapur road. Once you cross the wipro office, keep going straight for another 1.5 kms or so. There will be a display board for india international and greenwood high school. Take the road, and there will be a railway line alongside. The entire area is lush green, and very scenic. Atleast for some 5 kms :) The temperature here is some 3 to 4 degrees lesser than what is in bangalore. I think there are some 2 to 3 dhabas there as well. Maybe you can try this place for a 1/2 day excursion!

iMax coming up near Marathahalli….construction has already started.
Walmart/target are aggreviously planning to enter Indian markets…but guess what…
Pantaloons,Shopper’s Stop,Westside have all joined hands to create some problems…
I have heard about alot of adventure (para-gliding,treks….) around bangalore…

Adventure sports: Is yet to pick up. They do sky dive in Bangalore but from 5000ft…you will barely have a free fall. Otherwise there are lot of trekking oppurtunities in and around Bangalore.

How about biking…most of the places are with in 350KM (pondicherry, ooty, mysore etc)..hence can be covered on bike on a weekend…biking in big group in fun…

why exactly would shopping at a super/hypermarket be of any consequence?! And we have enough malls around already!

the iMax thingy wont be of any use – we hardly get good quality (regular) cinema – for them to make use of iMax tech its gonna take a long time.

btw, there’s parasailing at Jakkur, I believe every weekend

I wouldnt wan’t another chain like Walmart coming into Bangalore and snatching away the business of small-scale shops – they have already been hit by the advent of Foodworld and other chains. To go hiking is healthy in all prospects
