I rarely watch movies. However I was compelled to go to one recently.
I visited Fun Cinemas theater located at Sigma mall, Cunningham road.

The high intensity sound, hygienic atmosphere, made me feel truly high-class.
While I was all excited to watch the movie after a span of 5 yrs, there was pin drop silence all of a sudden.
No time to think what was going on, while I just realized that our national anthem was being played.
Everyone stood up and remained silent; from the old to the young as young as 4 yrs- giving due respect to our anthem.

How often does one feel patriotic?
Breaking all the barriers of religion, caste, creed, sect, it truly made me feel proud to be an Indian.

It was a similar event that occurred at Fame lido located at Lido mall.
Is our anthem being played in all the theaters before the movie is showcased? Or is it just a few of them?
Does everyone feel the same way? Or is it just another movie and another time the anthem is being played and I’m there to watch the movie?
Your thoughts please?

From the lighter shades like beige, greens, whites, now it seems to be the season for brighter shades of pinks, yellows, oranges noticed in the exterior of homes and shops in and around the city.

The main reason for these sudden changes in the choice of colors is because of ‘Vaastu’.
It is said that these bright colors bring prosperity and good luck to the home.

Like astrology and palmistry, Vaastu is supposed to be a complicated and a vast science.
Vaastu is a primitive Vedic science of designing plans of buildings that is said to clout peace and wealth of the populace.

Have these colors brought good luck? Have they really helped in achieving success? This still remains a question to me.

However, it is definitely the belief of the people. Any thoughts? Any experiences?

Commercial cab drivers are said to be protesting in and around few parts of the city and preventing the employee cabs of different companies from commuting to various places as per schedule.

It is said that as a part of the benefits, the cab drivers are not eligible for accident benefits which they think is an important aspect considering the amount of accidents that transpires.
There ware some disturbance reported earlier in the morning though the situation seems to be under control.

Undoubtedly, this is the right time for the auto drivers to make some extra money. Isn’t it? However, car pooling should be a good thought.

Not sure if this strike is going to continue for some more days. Any idea?
Is there some other reason for the strike?

After hectic schedules, weekend breaks gives you such a wonderful feeling. Isn’t it? Last weekend, we trekked to Hebbe falls Chikmaglur. It was a splendid trek path; a great stress buster indeed.

Trek path

Greenery everywhere and beautiful rivulets impending; to add to those were tender coconuts to quench our thirst made the trek even more exciting.

<

Small Rivulets on the way

It was evening by the time we finished our trek. We went back to Chikmagalur district from the place we trekked and found some accommodation which was not so good yet acceptable. We were tired and hungry and all we knew is we had to get some good sleep along with some good food and we were successful in getting both.

View of Hebbe falls from the place we started to trek

Close up view of Hebbe falls.

The next day, we decided to visit Datta Peeta a cave that has a Hindu god and a Darga in the same spot.

We continued our journey further to visit a small waterfall called “Manyaka Dhara” few kilometers away. The water falls continuously but it is said that the origin of the waterfall is still a mystery.

An interesting belief was that once the devotees bathe in this waterfall, they leave behind one item of their clothing after having a bath. The picture indicates the chunk of clothes all over. The place where people worship was very untidy. This is a belief that is said to bring goodness.

Is ‘Cleanliness’ apt in this scenario? Or must I say Cleanliness Vs Godliness?
Not sure what needs to be said in this regards but undoubtedly Belief supersedes fundamental lessons learnt.

It was a wonderful experience to spend the weekend in a pleasant manner.

It’s a must to visit the place for sure.

If you get into ‘Blue Bell Sweets’ located at Unity building JC Road, don’t miss trying ‘Turkish Halwa’..
The name may sound a little weird but the taste is awesome.

This is how it looks but hey don’t go by the color of it.

It’s made of cashew nut and corn flour. I did hear from the owner of the store that it’s a low cal and low fat content sweet. And the only place where they prepare this sweet all over india is ‘Blue bell’ . However I doubt about the low cal and low fat part of it because the main ingredient is cashew nuts.

But whatever it is – low cal; low fat or high fat; high cal – it tastes awesome. Distinctive and delicious!!!

As I walked by, I happened to see two men dressed in unusual attire.
I stopped for a moment to see what was going on and realized that there were Ugadi celebrations happening in and around the vicinity of Rajajinagar.
Ambience was prearranged to symbolize a village atmosphere.

Ugadi marks the commencement of a new Hindu lunar calendar with a change in the moon’s orbit. It is during this day when the mantras/prayers are recited and predictions for the New Year are made.

The event began with the predictions for the year. Increase in prices of gold and silver, occurance of minor disturbances in and around the country. (I am not sure of what this really meant) were few of the predictions. Predictions with respect to each sun-sign were made as well.

Post this session was a 10 minute performance by professionals playing the drums or the dolakh as they are commonly known.

In succession to this was a dance illustration which was performed by the two men who portraying Veerabhadra. The dance form depicts the story of Veerabhadra, who was created by Lord Shiva to teach a lesson to his father-in-law Daksha. Lord Shiva was not invited for the famous Yagna performed by Daksha which was the cause for his anger. He became more furious when, Dakshayani, (daughter of Daksha) was insulted when she went to see the Yagna. It was then Lord Shiva performed the Thandava dance. Lord shiva had chosen Veerabhadra to go and destroy the ceremony (Yagna). This angry mood is depicted in the dance form.

This is a rare event that one gets to witness in a city like Bangalore.
The traditional Ugadi celebration was really unique and a pleasant one indeed!

This was organized by Shivakumar Hosamani, a social worker. Kudos to him and his team for the for organizing such an event.

Many a times it’s the government that is blamed of but being the common man, how far are we able to contribute to the betterment of the city.

It is obvious that one cannot avoid the nature’s call. But when an appropriate space is being provided, why not make use of it? Time and again, I have seen people answering the natures call outside the Nirmala zone that I might refer it to as. The first question that comes to the mind of a common man is ‘why pay?’

Think different!

Does this sound better ‘Why not keep the city clean? Or Why not make namma bengaluru a better place to live in?’

Any thoughts?
