Pink city!

December-January is the season for the pretty tabebuia blossoms, painting the city in a delightful sheen of pink. If you go for a walk through Cubbon Park, the whole area is filled with these flowers! Since I didn’t have my photography equipment with me on this morning’s walk through the park, I had to resort to my phone camera to capture some of the scenes.

This species also called the New World Trumpet tress, originates from South America and the West Indies. Around 10 species of the tree are acclimatised in Bangalore. You can read more about it here.

Do go for a walk around the park one of these days. It’s a lovely time indeed!

There are still plenty of these trees…btw Anita, Tabebuia is only the family and we have other Tabebuia trees which have yellow flowers. This one is the Tabebuia avellenadae, or impetiginosa. I don’t know the Kannada name for it, though.

There are still plenty of trees in Bangalore and plenty of whining folks too!! Stop whining and do something or learn to live with what greenery you can afford.
