Praise is due…

The Novena of St Mary’s Church (near Russell Market in Shivajinagar) just concluded on Saturday. And in spite of some difficulties which traffic faced on some roads adjoining the Church (notably on Meenaksh Koil Road, Seppings Road, Arunachalam Mudaliar Road, and even up to the BRV Junction), the crowd management by Bangalore Police was really excellent, and huge crowds gathered and then dispersed in organized fashion.

When something goes wrong, it is easy to criticize and analyse what measures were lacking, but it is equally important, when gatherings of this magnitude have been managed well in an area with congested, narrow roads, to appreciate the efforts that the policemen and the civic authorities have taken.

So, as a citizen of Bengaluru…here is a big bouquet for a difficult job very well done! A religious festival has every potential to explode into a node of controversy if not handled well; so the appreciation is all the more deserved.
