How to be late for a client meeting

If you want to do lunch in 30 minutes, don’t go to Ruchi. Yesterday, their “unlimited” thali resulted in a delayed client meeting and a very angry client.

Didn’t matter, because I had one of those thalis that got you to loosen your belt and make impolite noises. We were driving past Ruchi on Cambridge Road and my colleague Sumit suddenly hit the brakes. “You must try the Thali out here, it’s more than decent,” he said.

I don’t usually argue about stop-overs or detours, especially when I’m hungry – so we trooped up to the first floor and took a table.

The first thing that strikes you here, is the fact that it does not smell of a “Thali Kitchen” as many of these places do. Even the interiors are a welcome change.

We opted for Thalis, with “side dishes”. I like that phrase – has a nice ring to it. Sumit ordered Mutton Pepper Dry and I settled for an Aloo Chat.

The thali was really refreshing. The curries were not overloaded with traditional flavors and ranked pretty good on taste. Sumit’s Mutton Pepper Dry got 8 out of 10 and my Aloo Chat was a 9/10. The Thali of course, got a 10 / 10. Not bad when it costs you around fifty bucks. I think the Mutton Pepper Dry was 90 and the Aloo Chat was around 45.

My math is not very good, but I think they have over 200 items on their menu – North Indian, Chinese, Continental, and Andhra. We didn’t try anything else but I guess at a place like this, South Indian would be a better bet.

Told Sumit to plan the next client meeting at Ruchi. No missed meetings, and a very satisfied client.

Location :

I think there’s a lounge bar at level two, called Retro – run by the same people. I must check it out.

Ruchi can do home deliveries within a radius of 3 km.

[Not too happy with the image I’ve used. Lighting wasn’t good enough]
