Beautiful Weather

Everybody says that Bangalore had beautiful weather. There is so much that is written about how it used to be many years back. Recently an aunt who came down to Bangalore commented that as the bus would start nearing Bangalore the air would start to get cooler & that would give them the hint that Bangalore was nearing. Now she says it is hardly like that.

I suppose for those of us who have recently moved to Bangalore or for those of us who can’t relate to how things were many years back they should all probably step out today. Step out now!

What will greet you is a breezy, drizzly, cloudy weather. It’s been like this for over a few days now. The sun seems to have completely disappeared and is not playing the hide & seek game that it sometimes plays. The clouds have all bunched themselves together & are in various hues of grey. There is a slight drizzle on and off and the chilly breeze makes you pocket your hands. The roads look really nice when it is like this. The harsh sun can sometimes make everything so dry but this weather has ensured that the dryness is completely out. The trees, the mud along the footpaths are anything but dry.

Last evening too was beautiful what with the drizzle & the breeze making it just perfect for pakodas & chai or to cuddle up in bed & read or for that cosy romantic time with your partner.

I suddenly notice that the fans have not been switched on at all and a few of them around me are in jackets or sweaters. And to think of it this is still mid day…

Considering that a few days back, we were sweating & complaining about the hot weather this is a nice welcome change. Was this how it used to be a few years back? Just imagine this kind of weather day in day out…umm lucky people who lived here back then. But for now let’s just enjoy what we’ve got here today.

Well, I happen to think that except for a not-very-hot (cf Delhi or Chennai at 40+ through the summer) and early summer, Bangalore STILL has lovely weather…and since the heat isn’t humid, I can bear that, too.

So *I* have no complaints about Bangalore weather, and I LOVE it when it is all cloudy and cool and fresh like this, and enjoy every moment of it!

    Thanks for this post…!

A conversation about Bangalore weather between two Bangaloreans rarely leads to an arguement. Everyone agrees the weather is no longer as pleasant as it used to be. I remember, many years ago, when we had relatives visiting us from Kerala, they never forgot to carry a sweater. In May. They dont bother anymore.

For me, Bangalore is the smell of wet mud, the cool breeze, kodbale + coffee, the tree-lined (Gulmohar and Raintree) main roads, long walks, shopping at 8th cross Malleswaram, bus routes via shivajinagar… And I have never been disappointed. My Bangalore is still there. It just doesnt crop up amdist words like crumbling infrastructure, IT, real estate rates, malls & multiplexes, glaring economic disparity etc.
