Doesn’t your electricity have to be on for this to be meaningful?

In Australia, similar campaign “Lights Off Australia” is organized on first Wednesday of every Month, from March 7th 2007. See cooltheglobe.com for details.

Why just 21st? we have been doing it every day several times. I think India needs to do a campaign for Lights On India. Power goes off so many times here in Bangalore. This campaign looks good in developed countries where 24X7 power supply is there.
To improve the ecosystem there are several things that need to be done before doing this. Fix those faulty transformers, stop politicians and other officials stealing electricity, fix all those faulty wiring which consume a lot, make recycling and plantation mandatory… I can go on and on…

Though the intention is good, I think I would agree with the commenters..it’s like telling a beggar to eat less! Many of us suffer from hours of power cuts, and worse, brownouts that damage our appliances.

So OK, I will switch off the power
    For HALF an hour!
