Yer Marshal!
Well, If you travel towards Marthalli on Airport road you can see these Yer (Yer (u) =climb in Kannada) Marshals at the end of the Bangalore airport compound always hanging on the vehicles, trees and sometimes on the compound too…
The ultimate reason for these guys to climb up is to watch the flight landing, takeoff and enjoy the view of runway!
I am not making fun or criticizing these people, I always wonder the amount of craze which has been created by these flying machines still in common man of Bangalore.
Nice post, Shadow! It may not exactly be ‘craze’ as such but just human curiosity to marvel at these huge, sleek, shiny, silver birds that take off and land amidst thunderous noise….
With air fares touching rock bottom, it’s only a matter of time before they are onboard
lovely set!
Ravi,
Thanks you are right, Its curios then craze.
WMWC,Thnaks… But personally i feel if the prices slashes to bottom then to we can still see the yer marshals, But hardly how many years ? As the airport is on move n one wont get such a easy view in new airport i guess.
Nice observation! I actually still love watching planes take off!
I’ve never noticed this happen but will keep my eyes open next time around :)
Good observation and nice pics!
Nice name! I’m wondering about the security implications of this. It seems so easy to get into the airport like this. Are there security officials posted there?
Brilliant stuff. This is what is called as “nose-for-news” in journo parlance.
Keep it coming.
Anita, Thanks and wish next time you have a look but not from the top of the tree :-)
Chitra, Thanks.
Roshan, They do have security check but its like a patrol they do visit the place every 1 or 2 hrs, during that time Yer Marshals will come out of duty and once the patrol is gone they will be back to duty.
Kishor, Thanks.
Enjoyed the post and the LOVELY caption, Shadow!
Awesome post magaa….. There is another place near chalghatta, back of airport where the flights landing and take off can be seen.. Its the spectacular View.. Even we used to watch from that point.. No need for adventures.. Well its my Childhood days..
The another place is Koramangala-Indiranagar Ring Road. Many people stop their vehicles to see the Planes. Mostly family having Fun time. The Risk is, it invites trouble. Want more Comfortable zone.. Try from Golf Embassy….
Nice caption and pics Shadow! I notice them every time I go past the Helicpoter Division/Isro turn stretch. I once saw a cop whisking people away from these trees!
Aren’t 2-3 of these trees too close for comfort, can people can jump in? Security risk!?
Hi Shadow,
this is very nice post. I have passed that side many times but didn’t actually notice this.
Deepa,Thanks.
Naren, Thanks Magaa, U R right view from Chalagatta is great.
Silkboard, Thanks, U R correct abt trees, BTW did you know a year back or so some guys had fallen down from wall and suffered the inquiries.

Hi Shadow
I really wonder sometimes that the blogs on this site are wonderful. Actually just last week I saw these Yer Marshall & I was curious is it just the aeroplanes they are looking at or is it something else.
Here you show the exactly same pics I saw.
Thanks
keep it up ; nice ones..
Looks like fun, actually!

Nice Post

Shadow, good post with excellent title and good pictures. Even I’ve seen quite a few of them in the same spot. Aircraft take-off and landing are sights worth watching. Recently when I was traveling, the aircraft had some technical problem and we had to wait in the runway for 2 hours. Though the passengers were irritated about the delay, quite a few of them kept themselves busy capturing take-off and landing in their cameras!
hey
it is an example of the divide and the fascination of the human mind for flying
