New TV Channel…

A new Kannada TV Channel, Suvarna, (that could mean, either “good colour” or “gold”)is being ..er..opened, or aired, or whatever the right verb is. I have been asked to do a recording of a one-hour Carnatic music concert (with a couple of Devarnamas thrown in), day after tomorrow. Being insatiably curious, I am planning to go for the recording a little earlier, with my camera, and make a nice post about the recording of music for a TV channel..

So…watch this space!

Now, I must go and confirm the venue and time of the recording to Mr Rajesh, who will be accompanying me on the violin; Mr B N Ramesh, a senior mridangam player, will be on the percussion. I have always found him very supportive when I sing.

Ok guys am back with the answer to my own question. The Suvarna is Asianet’s New Kannada Channel. After Asianet kaveri they are coming up with new Name. Well, one more Kannada Channel from Non-Kannadigas.

Am eagerly waiting for Kumaranna’s Kannada Kasthuri.

Here’s hoping that ‘sensible’ readers refrain from adding to the provocation within comment #2 above re: ‘non-kannadigas’! This is a free country and anyone, anywhere is free to be enterprising.

Deepa – would it be possible for friends and supporters to attend the taping? I’d love a chance to hear you perform live.

Deepa avare, congrats on this opportunity and wish you the very best! Regd the kannada channel ownership debate, more than criticizing the fact that we have only kannada channels started by non-kannadigas, we should be lamenting about the lack of enterprise among kannadigas. Hopefully this will be change soon.

@ suyog Kindly take back or eat ur own words of”lack of enterprise among kannadigas” There are many many Kannadiga Business PPl. if u dont know Count on… Narayana Murthy, Nandan nilekani, Mohandas Pai, Dinesh and others of Infosys, Vijay Mallya OF King Fisher Group, Capt. Gopinath of Air Deccan, Vijayananda of VRL Group. Sadanand Maiya of MTR………….. The List Goes on and On its Endless. Our Point is in Media sector especially Visual Media.

@Mythri IT does matter. The Job oppoutunities. Very Recently Popular Group of channels had thrown out the Locals and had shifted the studio to Chennai. The S FM of Sun Network had commited for Kannada and started Playing Hindi Due to the Kaveri issue.

Dear Readers: I don’t want this post to become another Kannadiga/Non-Kannadiga issue. I firmly believe we are all human beings, and INDIANS first. I was brought up in Bengal, I think of myself as a Bengali; I speak Tamizh at home, I think of myself as Tamizh; I live in Karnataka, I consider myself a Kannadiga, too. Let us not divide ourselves up. Let’s leave these divisive tactics to the politicians, please!

We live in Bangalore. This Blog Belongs to Bangalore. If we support or use word Kannada or Kannadiga.. all issues will start. I am unable to understand. My second Post’s Last sentence hav been used many times in many media. Wat was the necessary to fuel this Blog in the Name of Language. Is it an ofence to use word Kannada or Kannadiga or Supporting Kannada??? OFcourse We all are Indians, Indians First. Agreed. But Kannada is also an Indian language. If i support Kannada. Why the word Divide and Blah Blah… Starts. In my entire posts i hav just put the facts. Not Blamed any person or Language.

    Does anyone hav answer??

Asianet kaveri was not funded by Asianet, but by Zee channel. Only the tradenark of Asianet was bought for a huge price by the Zee officials.
