Revisited….and still very good…

It happens all too often…You discover a new restaurant. The food is excellent, and you really enjoy the meal. So of course you tell all your friends about it. The first few friends agree emphatically with you, and then, of course, the dissenting reports start coming in. Then you visit the place once more, and come away, sadly disappointed, realizing that you cannot go there again, and must continue the quest for a good place to eat..

But how nice when it DOESN’T happen! My daughter and son in law came over for a short visit and today, the penulitmate day of the visit, we went to Potluck Cafe on Bannerghatta Road….and we found that the food was, if anything, even better than before! Mr Birla told us how, as someone hailing from Lucknow, he had a different method even for making the panneer that is used in the restaurant, using lots of curd instead of citric acid or lemon.

What I particularly like about Potluck is that serving portions are small. This may or may not suit everybody; but for light eaters, it is certainly nice not to pay large sums of money for large quantities of food that cannot be eaten! It’s also pleasant to pay very reasonable prices for these servings (Eg, the masoor dal was Rs.15, can you believe that..no dish was more than Rs.20 or so.)

There is a home-made feel to the food which is often claimed but not really met with. Definitely, if I had made this food at home, this is the way I would make it!

I do hope Potluck is able to manage the usual labour issues, and becomes a fixture of South Bangalore. Sustaining the standards are what good restaurants are about!

Sigh. Deepavargale. Please please post pictures.

Don’t bother about pesky commentators who make snide remarks about our enthusiasm for food topics. Please continue. Life does not have to be serious all the time. I am noticing that all of you are backing off from the “fun” and light topics. The pictures are also lacking. :-(

When I forward some of these articles, all my friends enjoy it, especially the NRIs and then we all reminisce about previous visits and old memories are revived. Thank you for posting this article!

How much ever you eat the taste buds tickle each time you remember the best food which you had and if it is with a inclination towards home made then nothing can beat it. Good job but do we get Non veg there ;)
