Annana nenapu, ಅಣ್ಣನ ನೆನಪು !

What a wonderful day it was yesterday, It was Dr.Rajkumar’s birthday and even thou he is not with us today he is still in the hearts of millions of people, How can we forget a great human being like Dr.Raj.
At this moment I would like to share an incident which took place in and around me which is related to Dr.Raj somewhere 10 years back.

raj_collage.jpg

There was a person by name Manju (name changed) in my home town; He was a married man with 2 kids, a small happy family. Due to business reasons he had borrowed a quite big amount with a private money lenders, to a bad luck he had a loss in the business and he was not in a situation of repay back the amount, Due to this he left the home without the knowledge of the family members also, Here is the home situation turned worse as the bread earner was missing, All of sudden after a year Manju came back home, he apologized the family and with a great hope he told that he will payback the money of lenders in an years time.

Later he explained that he was afraid of the situation and to escape from it he was living in some remote town of north Karnataka and there he happen to listen a song of Dr.Raj from Akasmika “Baluvantha hoove baduvase yeke” “ಬಾಳುವಂಥ ಹೂವೇ ಬಾಡುವಾಸೆ ಏಕೆ”in a busstand which changed his mind, Which made him to realize the facts of life, Which in turn made him to return back home.

Later he paid back the loans, improved the business and now he is leading a happy family.

Well this was a small example that how Dr.Raj impress on our lives.

Come back to yesterday, There are lot of good news… Govt is planning for an state holiday in the name of Raj jaynthi on April 24 every year, A trust came up in the name of Dr.Raj,A statue of Dr.Raj inaugurated in KG road, Lots of blood donation camps happened, Many agreed for donating there eyes , Food for street children etc etc….

Long live Raj memories… ಗರ್ವದಿಂದ ಗರ್ಜಿಸು ನಾನೊಬ್ಬ ರಾಜ್ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಯೆಂದು !!!

Well, the key bit about the song was not in English. Apart from that, the rest of the post’s English is atrocious.

Let me get this straight: some loser ran away from his family, then heard some “song of Dr. Raj” (which wasn’t actually sung by him), and then realised what an idiot he had been? And “now he is leading a happy family. (sic)”

Why are kannadigas so sentimental about an Actor?
I agree with the Trust being set up for doing good social work but a holiday??Thats a little too much….

MR. Goautham. Who said Dr. Raj Kumar is Just an Actor?? He is Annavru, Raja – The King of Karnataka. Its is Said by not an mere fan. But by the Sahyadri Poet Dr. nisar Ahmed. If u dont know Who is Nisar Ahmed Just Google it!!.

    He still Rules Our Hearts.

While I respect the sentiments of the writer and those who accolade him, this is what I’ve got to ask: Was the said song composed by Raj? If yes, great! His song did bring a change in a person’s life. But if not, shouldn’t the credit go to the person who composed it? Wasn’t the LINES (lyrics) of the song that effected a change in the person, in fact? Well, Raj is a great actor – no doubt! But TO ME it appears that nowadays the localites feel patronising Raj would get them some acceptance / respect which perhaps they otherwise don’t get. Maybe just me? Well, we ought to look beyond the silver screen! May his soul rest in peace.

  11. Naren (unregistered) on April 25th, 2007 @ 8:22 pm

@SIMI, Hav U ever Drunk Pepsi?? If ys, I am sure u hav got influenced by the Ads of Sachin-Sharukh. or else Y those models are Required??
LikeWise, ITs the Dr. Raj Kumars name Which Influenced the person. The Due Credit will be given to Hamsa Lekha(The Music Director, May be Lyricist of the song). There are lot of other songs of yesteryear which still Rule our hearts. Like “Kai lagadhu endu Kai Katti Kulithare…”, “Adisi Nodu Bilisi Nodu…” “Yaare Koogadali oore Horadali….” And the list goes on.

“But TO ME it appears that nowadays the localites feel patronising Raj would get them some acceptance / respect which perhaps they otherwise don’t get.”– Its total BullShit. I think u dont know abt Annavru. Learn first and Speak. All generations in the families of Karnataka Worship Dr. Raj. U Go to any Part of karantaka, they may speak Telugu, Tamil, marathi… Etc. But, they do worship Annavru. He is the King.

    To all the respected Non-Kannadigas,
Dr.RajKumar is our one and only annavaru, devaru, and the King of all hearts of Kannadigas. We Kannadigas resect him with great honour, w.r.t that We all support the Government of Karnataka to go ahead with Dr.Raj Jayanthi DAY, and would like to celeberate it.

Whether you are a kannadiga or non-kannadiga we all being Dr.Rajkumar’s Fans, WE DONT LIKE TO BE DISTURBED WITH OUR SENTIMENTS AND OUR WAY OF CELEBERATIONS FOR Dr.RAJ.

KINDLY DO NOT SPEAK OUT BEFORE YOU LEARN ABOUT Dr.RAJ.

There are many sources to learn about Dr.Raj, know him first.

@bloggers like GOUTHAM, SIMI, who have posted non-sense comments, first get to know about Dr.Raj, then speak out.

This is the fate of Indians. We go behind some silver screen personality, who acts to earn money. While I say ‘acts to earn money’, it’s not a blame. I mean to say, it’s just like any other profession. They act and sing for money. They don’t do it as a social service and they don’t it for free. How many of us really praise Gandhiji who fought for India’s freedom? How many of us remember the good deeds of Mother Teresa? Gandhiji’s and Teresa’s birth and death anniversaries did go past… but SILENTLY. Appreciate them if you want to, but PLEASE don’t set agenda on what should be blogged about.

For you people skimpy actress and big mega star’s weddings and their scandals and their money and their etc etc etc… hit the headlines, all of you have all the time in the world to read and waste time about them.

Watch Dr.Raj movies, they are not about money, skimpy clothes, idiotic comedy etc etc…
Dr.Raj movies are very meaningful and each and every scene is enacted so meaningfully that it teaches the values and principles of life.

Every movie of Dr.Raj conveys some meaning. Even his comedy conveys a good joyous meaning.

@SIMI: Whether he has written the lyrics of that song or not, its the way of presentation of the song that catches the hearts of millions of people. So the Credit goes to Dr.Raj. Have you watched the visual content of the song. Every word of that song is enacted with great care to represent the meaning of the song to the viewers such that it remains in their hearts forever.

Not like these days songs of Dhoom2 whr ASH wears skimpy clothes and ppl go crazy with her crazy kiya re..HUH!!!!!

I admit that i have not watched any of rajkumars movies….But I have watched this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PFURM9eA_Q

I am just arguing that we kannadigas are being carried away with just one person. Please stop this goondaism in the name of rajkumar. Never forget the poor constlable who died in those unfortunate riots after the actor’s death. Why did he die? I am still searching for answers.

And if the karnataka govnt does go ahead and declares a public holiday , it will be a grt shame for us kannadigas.

Lets get out of this sentimentality.

Shame on you, especially some of the comments by Naren and Anand.
I am a Kannadiga myself and would not like to be associated with you guys………
I do respect Dr.Raj,Well not sure if I would Worship him……….but to see the comments today was very disappointing…….I should say some here are really living in Denial…….”just like a frog in its pond”
You guys really highjacked the whole idea about the Blog(Well not that the blog was good…)
I had to infact read the post a couple of times to really understand……..I should say Shadow that I have been reading your earlier posts but this one is really below par and sorry to say its full of Grammatical errors……..very inappropriate use of articles and prepositions.
All in all Naren you proved my point but your sense of humour is good I guess?….well perhaps.
….just wondering the kids wont be too happy about Dr.Raj Jayanti I guess as it falls during their summer holidays……..
But again a holiday……..here according to me is really inappropriate…
I am sure the likes of Naren and Anand are there in Bangalore………But I should say we Bangaloreans welcome everybody from India and world,so the non-kannadigas who were laughing at this post, please dont think we Kannadigas are all this way……
I hope this will all be taken in a lighter vien.

  19. Briju Prasad (unregistered) on April 26th, 2007 @ 8:03 am

    @ Naren again,
I should say you give us a lot to comment on…….
Earlier you commented on On-screen smoking…….you are so eazy to argue with because you tend to state the obvious!!
Here you talk about smoking and films………yes you are a hero to the right cause ie cessasion of smoking……..but have you considered thinking beyond the obvious of the under current of denial that this may potray………I will give you an example…..you see many smoke in the society…..it is harmful I accept, but by responsible actors not playing the role required may totally deny the fact that such a evil exists…….Would we consider not having sex just because its not shown in Indian movies??….please think……there is more harm in putting boundries on art and freedom………I can understand if smoking is proactively shown as a Machoistic entity which may be questioned……..but again not banned……
I guess we need to look around us……

Goutham – Hats off for that link. Worth million words!
Anand – Please do watch the youtube video. You may have to eat your words (well sentences) on skimpy apparels.
Naren – I’ve had drunk pepsi, coke etc but don’t drink them as a habit. But, I swear, it was never for pepsi being endorsed by cricketers. A book is worth by the meaning of its contents not by the fonts and colors of the contents. Fonts and colors just accentuate the original meanings. Hope you got it!
BRIJU – I like the way you put things, very subtly making your point.
To everyone who didn’t get me right the first time – I don’t have any disrespect for Raj; well for that matter for any cine-star (current and yester). My point was: We need to wake up to the fact that cinema is a medium of entertainment and the actors / actresses are there to make money & career out of it. As @Indian rightly pointed out there are hundreds of other people who sacrificed their life for the well being of Indians in general, who are conveniently forgotten.
Above all, we need to come out of this linguistic (such as Kannadiga, Tamilian, Malayali) web. Why on earth should anyone think that a message that doesn’t endorse a view on Raj should be from a non-Kannadiga necessarily? Why such prejudice?? Maybe out of the ignorance that all Kannadigas’ thoughts revolve around one person – Rajkumar???
Let such sentiments not take away precious human lives, frighten citizens and paralyze public life. A life is much more than the sentiments on a person who is (unfortunately) dead.
You’ll realize the meaning of the above sentences only when you / your dear ones get stranded in the roads enroute to a hosptial just because someone is dead!
May Raj’s soul rest in peace (I do mean it!).

I’ve been listening to Kannada Kasthuri on the web, this evening. They’ve been playing his and S.Janaki’s songs throughout the whole time I’ve been listening.
Tremendous stuff! I love those old songs. They have such a good feeling to them.

    Naren,
I completetly agree with everything you said in the last post buddy.I have just this to say…sometimes this rajkumar praising business seems a little over the top and tasteless.Hey but that is only my opinion.
And it is also very good to know that you are not one of those insane supporters who have no concern for public property while destroying it.Causing bandhs and making karnataka poorer by one day.
I have a beef with those kind of people and not guys like you.

  24. Naren (unregistered) on April 26th, 2007 @ 8:09 pm

@ Goutham!, FYKI, those all bandhs and protests are politically motivated. Well most of the ppl know who were behind those riots wen Dr.Raj Kumar left us. Its Just they need an issue to pull the Govt Down.

As far as praising, we the Karnataka PPL are much better than the others. Do u know PPL die wen the Some of the Stars movies are Released. due to stampade for getting ticket, many ppl hav died. It had happened in the past and happening.

I dont want to hurt the sentiments of others. so, I hav not mentioned language or Star or any Place.

    Cheers,

  25. Briju Prasad (unregistered) on April 27th, 2007 @ 3:25 am

Thank you for your kind words SIMI.

  26. Venki (unregistered) on April 27th, 2007 @ 7:49 pm

@SIMI,GAUTHAM and all others who are hurt by comments from Naren ,etc..
Get this point straight, its our matter, we’ve watched Annavaru’s movies from our childhood and honestly speaking we’ve been thoroughly entertained by his acting abilites and we want to pay our respects to his great soul. And the way we do it is a matter left to us(well not by goondaism which sadly prevailed during his death, everybody knows who did those acts, its the politicians). You outsiders are welcome to come to our state, live here, earn big money, raise families and become one of us. But you are not going to come here, live an outsider’s life, and then comment on the way we pay our respects to Annaavaru, or for that matter anybody who belongs to Karnataka. So STFU!! And let me remind you , if you have migrated to Karnataka,Bengalooru in particular, from any other part of India, then its because you find this place far better than your own.You guys have experienced more roits/flooding and whatever in your hometowns than you had to go thru in Bengalooru. Always keep that in your mind!! All said and done, we wont give a war cry and ask you guys pack your bags and blah blah blah..we beleive in Athithi devo bhavah and we will always treat you well. Its up to you to grow up and become one of us or keep whinig for the rest of your sad life.
@Briju, your name doesnt sound like a Kannadaish, but unfortunately if you are a kannadiaga, then you are an ar&e licker!
PS: If I have hurt anyone’s sentiments/emotions, then its purely intentional!
    -Venki

  27. Goutham (unregistered) on April 28th, 2007 @ 12:14 am

VENKI does my name sound Kannadish to you? Because I am a kannadiga.Anyway I have to say that you have proved my point. We kannadigas are too sensitive with this rajkumar issue. Why should everyone pay respect to rajkumar? I dont like his movies. Can I not even express my opinion that I dont like this over the top celebration? I am as much a kannadiga as anyone else.I dont want any holiday declared for his jayanthi.Thats my opinion.

Besides please dont tell people that you outsiders are free to come and live in karnataka.Because it is not for us kannadigas or tamils or marathi’s to tell that. Its in the constitution.Just as you can go and live in any place in India.

I agree that kannada should be promoted and but believe me it cannot be done by force.I know of a bengali frnd who learnt kannada in 2 years. He said he learnt it because he likes bangalore and the welcoming and liberal nature of kannadigas.Lets keep it that way.

  28. Briju Prasad (unregistered) on April 28th, 2007 @ 1:27 am

Well..Should I be hurt to be called an Ar&e Licker?? or should I ask back the same question? …hmmmmm…….let me think??
Who told me that?……Venki…….hmmmmmmm….Who is Venki?…….yes Who is Venki…..he could be a Don who could track me down???……I dont know, and I dont know why he is annoyed but I can only guess my comments relates to him?…..I better say sorry………in the hope that he will pardon me(well actually to save my life you see)
If you are offended by me mate…….I do Apologise.

Now…….the thing that I cannot understand is, Venki (Very Kannadaish name by the way) has cryptically coded all his message in a rather pleasant one word…..How convenient I should say…..and very eazy……no effort at thinking….and graphic to the readers??……well you may not agree Venki……..why should you?….you are right.

    …and now the interesting part…..Name?
Let me put it this way……if you are born and brought up in Bangalore…..your parents are from a village near Hassan…..your grand parents/great grans have lived in Mysore/Mandya for donkeys years……and your mother tongue is Kannada…..and most importantly who does’nt consider people from other states as outsiders……make me remotely Kannadiga??….well call in the jury people…
Now imagine if we had a dictator like Hitler in Karnataka and he wanted to do Ethnic cleansing and had he got all the names form a computer database to be sent to the concentration camps……..poor me would have gone there…….just because my name does not sound Kannadaish……Perhaps I should Tatoo myself on my forehead…..

Well to put the long story short ……..grow up kid and please dont call people from other states as outsiders…….dont you remember the British colonial success was mainly attributed to “Divide and rule”………do you want the history to repeat again?
well I will let you decide??
…but you did make a good effort to prove your point……only not professional I guess.
If you want to accuse me again….can I ask you to explain your accusiation rather than just using one convenient word……..because thats for people who cannot think.

I thought this song sums it all…
Please click on the link if yo wish to listen:
Its one of the greatest songs of John Lenon.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEOkxRLzBf0

    The lyrics goes this way:

    Imagine there’s no Heaven
    It’s easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today

    Imagine there’s no countries
    It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
