Beautiful flowers of summer
Now that the Jacaranda and Tabebuia have withered and their trees are standing bare, here’re the Queen’s Flower(Giant Crape Myrtle) and Gulmohar(Royal Poinciana) to make up for the loss! Both of these are now in full bloom and are such a pretty sight that it is difficult not to take a moment and simply admire!
Queen’s Flower
The flowers are gorgeous and you will find the Queen’s Flower in beautiful shades of lavender, pink, purple. The petals are distinct and usually wear a crumpled look. The flowering season is from April-June. Queen’s Flower is also known as Giant Crepe Myrtle, Queen’s Crepe Myrtle, Pride of India, Banaba.
Gulmohar
The red/orange flowers against the bright sky of the summer make for a wonderful sight! The Gulmohar is probably the most associated flower with Bangalore. The flowering season is again from April-June. The Gulmohar is also known as Royal Poinciana, Flamboyant Tree, Peacock Flower, Flame of the Forest.
Take a moment and enjoy the flowers!
Beautiful!
There are many such trees on the outer ring road near HSR and silk board junction but most of them are covered with so much dust that they don’t bloom. It’s really sad to see those trees suffering like that. Hope the rains come and wash their pains away.
Chitra,
We ought to start a ‘flower admiration society’
or some such thing. Its amazing how much we think alike on this matter of admiring flowers while commuting on Bangalore Roads. I’ve taken some pics yesterday as well and will do a separate post soon.
Cheers,
Ravi
Oh my Loevely flowers !! You missed to beautiful yellow bunches as well. Here in KGA there are few of these trees full with yellow flowers. The view looks awesome with green lush of Golf course and surrounded by Yellow flowered trees !!
Nisho, the rains did come and they did wash away the trees, plants, and flowers! :)
