Doing the median – more pics

High chances that you haven’t been watching Cherison’s set on flickr. So let me put those evidences (of how Bangaloreans treat their sinking road medians) right here on Metblogs.

BMTC bus at it.

A school bus as well!

Yeah, the public too.

Our raods are the best reflections of our society. As far as interpreting and following rules is concerned – it is “to each his own”. We just don’t “trust” the fact that these medians (or signals, or lane markers etc etc) have been designed with some purpose. Instead, we love to question – why the hell isn’t there a “cut” in the median near my house! Yes, that is exactly the argument I heard from a guy (two-wheeler) I once caught in the act.

Thanks, Pranav, for posting those pics here. I had emailed the DCP traffic (East) about this situation and 2 days later, I got a call from his office saying the median will be raised under the new B-Trac plan. You can read the update on this here. Hopefully, what he said is true and I hope it happens soon!

Wonderful Nisho! Where did you post your compliant? Here ( or somewhere else?

Nice pics! Not surprised at all by that guy’s (two-wheeler) “predicament”.

I emailed the DCP office directly. Here are the email addresses I got off Google search:

I mailed the pics to all three.

Okay, that second address sounds familiar, I have had responses to my complaints from that one. M A Saleem I think!?

For readers here – guys, if you note something you think isn’t right, try a complaint email. They do listen, and at least respond.

Thatz really good hope the authorities do something about that????
its only the people who have to respect the law and think of not doing such things. they think that breakink law is an achievement these days.
i have seen many people on 2wheelers riding on the foot path at the signals when the traffic is at halt. they are mostly working lot who would be getting late for work. so even the educated dont respect law so i really dont know what they have learnt all these days, when they just cant follow rules.

I don’t think that was another BMTC bus…it is the same bus taken a few seconds after the first one.
I hope metblogs does not turn into the typical media, who are notorious for hyping up, sensationalising and misrepresenting facts.

Rao, while the photographer (Nisho) may answer if your observation is right, I can tell you this. MB cant be like your CNN-IBN style media, comments are the very reason. Comments like yours above are usually followed up with an answer or correction. At the very least, those are not deleted!

While, it is true that it is the same BMTC bus in the second picture of the bus crossing the median, it is a fact that all types of vehicles cross the median and becoming more and more frequent. Today I saw a Tempo Traveller followed by a Tata Indigo crossing the median on the Outer Ring road before the Kasturi Nagar cross while coming from KR Puram side. I bet they had to take a U-Turn near Kasturi Nagar signal and seeing the heavy traffic decided to take a U-Turn over the median. I wish I had a camera with me.

Yes, it is indeed the same BMTC bus. I never claimed otherwise. Silkboard has posted two of the six pictures I took of the bus crossing over the median. You can see all the 6 images in my blog here.

Pranav, maybe in order to avoid any more confusion, you could probably change the title of the 2nd image of the bus to convey it’s the same BMTC bus.

@ Nisho/Rao – corrected. That was wrong assumption on my part.

@ Chris – please write to the DCP. More we let them know, faster they will get down to fixing it.
