Best Idli Coffee Contest …
Times of India is conducting ‘Best Idli Coffee Contest’ for the food outlets of Bangalore and the winner will be announced on 10th March. My vote goes to Brahmins’ Coffee Bar in Shankarapuram.
This (20 ft X 10 ft) outlet just rocks. Started in 1965 by KV Nagesh Rao, currently is managed his son Radhakrishna Rao and grandson Vishwanath. The simple menu consists of Idli, Vada, Kara Bhath and Kesari Bath. The USP is taste of the food, I am sure you are not going to find it anywhere else in Bangalore.
A plate of idly-vada will cost you Rs. 16, Kharabath costs Rs.8 and Kesaribath Rs.8. The outlet is open from 6 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 7 pm, except on Sundays.
I wanted to put the photograph of the outlet in this post, but Mr. Vishawanath has requested me not to do so.
Driving directions:
From Ashrama Circle go towards Uma theatre, take right before Jnanodaya School, proceed for 100+ metres and you will find the outlet at right corner of the road. I am sure you are not going miss it as there will be dozens of people standing in front of it. See google earth snapshot for more details.
Brahmin’s Coffee Bar sounds yum! I will be looking forward to the results of the contest. :)
as expected Brahmins’ Coffee Bar … won the contest …
