Some Reasons Why I Think Ranga Shankara Is Slipping
Here are some of the reasons I am less happy with Ranga Shankara than I used to be…
Rangashankara had a mobile number earlier on which one could call and
make bookings; that is no longer working.
I also know (not hearsay, I have seen the telephone myself) that the
staff leave the phone off the hook sometimes just before a show.
Earlier, if I bought a ticket for a friend and wrote the friend’s
name, the box office would give it to the friend when s/he gave the
name. Now they refuse to do it, for no good reason.
When they have people not turning up for reserved tickets, they make a
big hue and cry about selling those tickets to people who are waiting.
Mow they tell me that the box office won’t be open between 12 and
4…I can’t see any good reason for that, either.
They used to send an email of their monthly schedule to those who were
on their mail list…that has stopped now (it used to be late but at
least it was sent.)
They very often will not take bookings for another play a day or two
ahead of the one I am booking for.
They had a ghastly experiment with pretentious, expensive canteen dishes; thankfully, Anju’s stuff is better now…but there is still a preponderance of fried stuff.
They are becoming progressively more customer-unfriendly. And when I
met Arundhati Nag elsewhere, I don’t feel like complaining immediately
toher.
‘And when I met Arundhati Nag elsewhere, I don’t feel like complaining immediately
toher.’
i am sorry to be doing this, but this is the interesting part for me. can you elaborate on this?
why do you not feel like bringing these issues to her notice?
Last Sunday I tried to get a ticket for the 7:30pm show of Evam’s. I learnt from a reliable source in the morning that there was a possibility of cancellations happening at around 7pm; he also added that they could not release the tickets before 7pm. But I went there around 6:45 and the girl at the counter flatly denied any such possibility. Maybe she was right. But the way she brushed it aside left me with a bad taste in the mouth.
You could get the monthly schedules at their site http://www.rangashankara.org or at http://www.eventsbangalore.net/category/rangashankara/
Month March is starting in the middle of a week. Of the links provided above the first one’s content seems static for months. The Events site gives the calendar till end of Feb but I want to plan for this weekend which is March!
