Mavalli Tiffin Rooms…The saga!!

Off late, as we reported about Instant meal solutions from MTR, the brand itself created the news today…

MTR Foods Ltd, was acquired by Orkla SA, the leading Norwegian branded food major, for $80 million (Rs.3.52 billion) in an all-cash deal. The deal, signed Feb 9 in Singapore by MTR Foods chairman Sadanand Maiya and Orkla Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the $8.8-billion European firm, is subject to the Indian regulatory approvals, including the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).
Mr.Maiya, who holds 40 percent of the company’s equity, and his friends and relatives, who collectively hold 19 percent of the total stake, will exit the business in phases.

Another Reason for us, The Bangaloreans to be quite nostalgic about!! humm!!

So that’s where Tasty Bite got the idea! :)
They’re located in Pune and turn out some wonderful stuff as well. I’ve quibbled with them a little about the English names they’ve given the food. “Jaipur Vegetables”??? It’s Navratan Korma!
I generally buy their stuff when I’m too tired to do anything but put some Basmati in the cooker. (B.T.W. some enterprising rice growers in Texas and California have been marketing their own version of Basmati. It’s horrid!)
    I love convenience food.
Now Myrti has me pining away for Palak Paneer. :.-(
Spinach….Cheese…Yum! I’m going to turn off the computer and cry now.

MTR… The Household name of Namma bengalooru has been in News for quite some time. Its the revolutionary name in food products business. MTR well handled the stiff competition from MNC’s Such as ITC, amoung others. “Shudhatheya Bharavase” OR Promise of Quality is there Shlogan, and they delivered up to it. MTR is running its business Since 1924. it has a great inspiring story.

This udupi Family runned Business was under sadanand maiya for food products and Hemalata Maiya for Hotels. MTR was in contraversy for quite some time. The Hire of Suresh Kumar From HLL Received Mixed responses Later suresh put down his papers last year. MTR was under loss for sometime. Last year it reported Loss of some crores. There were talks of MTR selling its business was heard for Quite some time.

MTR has its factory in Hebbagodi industrial area on the outskirts of bangalore(off Hosur Road).
