Not a great news to hear on R-day!! The Suvarna Karnataka celebrations received a shock upon hearing that the its tableau for the Republic Day Parade at Delhi has been rejected by the Tableau Committee as it did not match the ‘National agenda’.

Defense Minister’s Tableau Committee left out Karnataka, the two-time winner of the best tableau award, this year. As told by Secretary of Department of Information, the Tableau Committee which screens and approves the tableaux rejected Karnataka’s tableau on Channapatna toys this year, though the Department had carried out the changes suggested by the Committee.

The Defense Ministry is understood to have pointed out to the State Government that it cannot seek permission to present a tableau at the Republic Day parade for the next three years as per the rules and regulations guiding the participation of States. Any State which fails to present its tableau that has been approved for presentation, or withdraws it, loses the opportunity to participate for the next three years.
