Today is Autorickshaw strike in Bangalore from 6 am to 6 pm, As a result Bangalore roads has become Auto’less’ roads!!! Today roads were very neat with less traffic congestion.

Personally i felt that once in a month there should be a Auto strike :-)

Heard that a couple of times today. I wonder if regulated cheaper taxis can replace the autos completely. Especially the Rs.1 lakh cars promised by the Tatas. Autos are more expensive than that. Also, if these cars have a diesel model that is not much more expensive, then that would be great.

(Have done a write up on autos here, )

yes, i remember our bangalore bandh and was sure that we will drop our pollution levels and let the city Breath. I guess there may be adverse impact on our economy due to bandh’s but why can’t we decide to have a ‘no traffic’ day once a year and let only sharable public transport ( like buses) ply the roads. I am sure if world over we start doing this we can help drop some pollution levels…

Chitra, Auto or Taxi… the issue is with roads n think that taxi occupies more space than auto on road also once this 1 lakh car comes to market more people own the car & roads going to mess up. Some how i feel instead of reduceing the car prices it should increase so that buyers will reduce.

Rajesh, I like your idea ” no traffic” day.
