Someshwara Temple

Bengalooru (Bangalore) has got many temples; Someshwara Temple @ Halasuru is one of the oldest and biggest temple in Bengalooru (Bangalore) which is very spacious with very good architecture.

Someshwara Temple was built by the Kings of the Chola dynasty; However Kempe Gowda has built the Rajagopura and the compound of the temple.
Lord ShivaSomeshwara is mainly worshipped in the temple, Also inside the compound of the temple there many other small temples, One can find a very tall coconut trees in the temple compound too.
Every year during April there will a Pallaki event where they keep the god in the flower decorative chariot & take a procession around Halasuru & during this time whole traffic towards halsuru will be banned; Temple also performs a special poojas during Shivaratri.

    It is my favorite temple in Bangalore and I frequent this temple quite often. I have fervently prayed at this temple during tough times and my prayers have been answered. Just like Ravi, I have been procrastinating on this one and you beat us both to it. Nice to see that you share our love for this temple. Have you visited the Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple? I am planning to write about it shortly.
