Janapada Jathre
Last Saturday & Sunday evening for a change Vidhana Soudha was looking like lady dressed for a festival with lot of lively things around, all because of “Janapada Jathre”, this event was organized by Department of Kannada and Culture on the mark of Suvarna Karnataka celebrations.
Janapada Jathre means Folk Fair, Overall It was an wonderful event with variety of performances from various artist group across Karnataka like Dollu Kunitha,Nandi Dwaja,Garadi gombe,Kamsale pada, Gigi Pada etc…. This event had also helped in motivating the rural artist where they were not given proper chances to expose their talent.
Past few years people of Bangalore were almost lost in the modern entrainments like Cinema, TV etc and this Jathre brought a new feelings in the people of Bangalore, there were few kids in the crowd who has seen this kind of performance first time is there life and I bet this kids were totally lost in the magic of “Janapada Jathre”,Personally I feel we need this kind of change once in a while.
Our deputy Chief Minister M.P.Praksh also inspired by the fair & he too went on a stage to dance and this shows the magic of janapada jathre :-)
There was not just an entrainment but also had a food court too! Where one had a chance to taste a different kind of rural dishes across Karnataka for a reasonable price….
So, if you think you have missed this event don’t worry :-) This event is planned to celebrate on every month 2nd Saturday & Sunday evenings till March 2007.

oh good! i would hate to miss Kamsale pada, Gigi Pada (no clue what they are.. shame on me) and the rural food.
oh btw what is the diff between “janapada” and “jaanapada” is there any diff?
Sou,
Generally there is no much difference in Janapada & Jaanapada…. However if you take-up with grammar then u can see the difference.
Janapad is a Namapada, Used to represent something by name e.g.Country,State,Person etc…
Jaanapada is a Gunavachaka,Used to represent something by the character like People, Group of people with common character etc…
However Jana/Jaana simply means words from a people…
