Marathahalli bridge update
I have been watching them work on the expansion of Marathahalli overbridge everyday. For a change, unlike the infamous Jayadeva flyover or airport road flyover, the progress has been pretty good. If they continue at the same pace, additional two lanes should be ready and up for use in next two-three months. But the success of the expansion work will remain a question mark. With so many new apartments coming up on either side of the road, it won’t take long before criss-crossing traffic to and from these apartments deadlocks with traffic to and from Whitefield. So my guess is that the new bridge might help preventing things from getting worse, but will not improve it much more than what used to be.
I agree its going great guns when compared to the flyover constructions in Bangalore, but as per the board put up by the authorities the completion date was sometime in July!
Anywayz, better late than …. :-)
Ajay – that July deadline was moved to Sep back in July itself (Its running late) !
I am watching closely the board still says Sep 30. But as Arun said, it is at least 2-3 months away.
Not just the Marathahalli bridge, but looks like the pace of road-work in general has picked up recently. Even the Airport road flyover – whatever is left of it now – is moving very quickly.
Yup thatz true. The road work near the KR Puram flyover has also increased in pace.
I have been travelling on Marathahalli flyover for close to three years now.. this is the only flyover where a 4 lane traffic converges on to a single lane over the flyover… everywhere else its normally the reverse..
when the BDA understands what can be the capacity of the flyover why approve so many flat constructions near?? today each flat has atleast one car & a bike & i can imagine how the sitaution would be once those flats are occupied. I cannot see any end to chaos at that junction, probably few more signals would come up & one right on top of the bridge but situation would remain the same..
