Bullet Train – A reality?

Not an April fool’s joke this – Silkboard had one earlier.

Indian Railways is seriously contemplating a bullet train between Bangalore and Chennai. This is great news for folks like me who spend every other weekend in Chennai.

The time that gets wasted in night trains and the very idea that you need to book those tickets 2 weeks in advance makes me frustrated. The wait time in airports for security & other formalities and frequent delays and cancellations also make air travel irritating, at times :-(

Bullet Trains will be an ideal way to travel – the speed of air travel with no hassles.

With “Namma Metro” work in full(?) swing and bullet train in the pipe, “Life in Bangalore” is set to change for ever.

Shinkansens will soon be here. How do you feel?

One of the earlier reasons why shinkanzes were dropped was indias poor track maintainence record and prohibitive costs..

Dont know how this suddenly can be taken care? Even today our rural folks ( bihar etc) dont like to pay and travel overhead free of cost!!

Imagining shinkanzes in bihar gives me the shudder… insurance HELP!

“Shinkansens will soon be here”…pardon me for being cynical but these projects are nothing but Laloo’s pipe dreams! Even if they do become a reality, running it will require public-private participation..i doubt the government has either the resources nor the expertise to run these technology intensive / dynamic projects!
