Feeling Secure on I-day

I guess this year’s Independence Day was the day that I was completely paranoid about security.

(Diplomatic way of saying I was “scared-shit” - after Mumbai bombs, the London nightmare and all those warnings from US to India!)

But hey, does it make sense for someone to attack when the opponent expects it? I can’t think from a terrorist’s shoe ;-)

I spent the entire day watching TV and never ventured out. Our PM’s speech (behind the bullet-proof glass!) was inspirational.

I came to know from my friends that the city was full of policemen and MG Road had a big flag march.

Did you go out into the city? What was your experience?

Was there any harassment (read searching cars & baggage) by the police?

First of all searching car is not harassment. Well. I was out all the yestreday. I difference I could make out was the traffic flow. It was very smooth yesterday. May be because there where lot many traffic police on road.

I was out almost the whole day. Was there at MG Road too, but later in the day. Never appeared different from any normal day.

Kanth - searching of cars is a mandated procedure in my office. We undergo this operation everyday for 5 mins as and when we are about to enter the campus. The search is like our software quality realities, utter crap but yes it happens.
